When search landscapes shift, most agencies play defense. At Pero SEO, we see an opportunity to pioneer.

We are thrilled to announce that Pero SEO has been shortlisted for the upcoming awards in the “Best SEO Campaign” category! This recognition highlights our team’s commitment to pushing past conventional Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics and delivering real, measurable transformation for our clients, even when facing major industry changes like the rollout of Google’s AI Overviews.

Who We Are & What We Do

At Pero SEO, we are an organic search and digital growth agency specializing in navigating highly competitive industries, with a strong focus on healthcare and medical marketing. Through our proprietary framework, the SLOPE® process, we look beyond basic keyword tracking. We dive deep into user intent and the underlying search engine design to identify clear gaps where our clients can capture market share.

Our mission has always been simple: Help businesses reverse organic declines, amplify their digital presence, and build sustainable traffic that survives algorithmic changes.

The Challenge: Surviving the AI Search Evolution

The campaign that earned us our shortlist spot centers on a universal challenge modern brands face: Sudden, massive organic traffic drops driven by search engines answering user queries directly.

For our client, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), their valuable “Teething Signs and Symptoms” article was hit hard. In February of last year, the page pulled a healthy 15,700 clicks. Just one year later, that number crashed to 6,900 clicks.

The culprit? Google’s AI Overviews.

Since the search engine was pulling text directly into an automated summary at the very top of the page, users no longer needed to click through to read the article. For many marketing teams, a drop like this feels detrimental and a sign that AI has permanently swallowed up organic real estate. But our team refused to accept defeat.

The Strategy: Using Visual Intent to Win Back SERP

Instead of tweaking standard text or blindly adding more words to the page, we used our SLOPE® process to determine exactly how users were interacting with the new search results page layout.

We noticed a distinct pattern in search behaviours: The tabs appearing immediately beside the AI Overview were “Images” followed closely by “Shorts”. This layout told us something crucial about modern user preferences: When parents are trying to figure out if their baby is teething, text descriptions aren’t enough. They want immediate, clear visual validation.

Our company strategy pivoted instantly from a standard text refresh to a rich multimedia approach:

  1. Dynamic Media Creation: We moved beyond traditional, static tooth charts used by all competitors and built a highly engaging, custom animated timelapse video tracking baby teething progression.
  2. Multi-Surface Optimization: We optimized the asset to perform across YouTube Shorts, standard Google Images, and traditional organic listing simultaneously.

The Results: Reversing the Decline

The results surpassed our expectations. By catering directly to visual intent, we didn’t just reclaim lost territory; we completely redefined where our client owned the page.

The updated article jumped right back to the top of the search engine results. More importantly, our animated asset was pulled directly into Google’s AI Overview as a featured video thumbnail. The video also captured the #1 ranking slot under the Shorts tab, effectively doubling traffic and proving that you can successfully counter automated search disruption with creative asset strategy.

What Being Shortlisted Means to Our Team & Partners

For me, becoming a finalist, along with IKEA and Johnson & Johnson, is an affirmation that we have created an approach to overcome AI-generated content and to prove that you can beat year-over-year site visits in this paradigm shift in search behaviour today.

– Andre Perreault, CEO & Founder of Pero SEO

“We hired Pero SEO to assist with building an SEO strategy from scratch. A major deciding factor for me was bringing on a partner who could make my life easier and was extremely knowledgeable. Pero SEO was the exact partner I was looking for. We have been seeing some amazing results with our GEO progress and currently have over 2,000 AI Overviews thanks to the strategic content recommendations provided by their team… Most recently, we’ve been testing out different recommendations to our blog content (ex: adding videos) and found almost a 50% increase in just one week with one of our blog posts… What I find most impressive about Pero SEO is their overall strategic approach. I’ve been in SEO for over 15 years and I was impressed from the first time I met Andre and his team. It’s clear that they are subject matter experts and really care about the success of their clients. I’m extremely grateful to have a trusted and talented partner in Pero SEO.
